Frequently asked questions

How do I convert my percentage to a 10-point CGPA?
The most common Indian convention (used by CBSE) is CGPA = percentage ÷ 9.5, and percentage = CGPA × 9.5. So 76% ≈ 8.0 CGPA. Many universities publish their own exact formula on the transcript or marksheet — use that where it exists.
Is there an official percentage-to-4.0-GPA formula?
No single official one. US universities and evaluators (WES, ECE) each apply their own method, often course-by-course from your transcript rather than a single number. Treat any percentage-to-GPA figure — including this one — as indicative, and rely on your official evaluation.
Which number do universities actually want?
Most ask for your marksheets/transcript and compute equivalence themselves; some ask you to get a WES or similar evaluation. Send exactly what the university requests — do not convert on your own where they want the original percentage.
