Blocked account (Sperrkonto)

A German account holding a fixed sum (€11,904 for one year as of 2024) that you draw monthly to prove living funds.

The blocked account is how most students prove living costs for a German student visa. You deposit the year's amount before applying and can withdraw a set sum each month after arrival. Confirm the current figure on the German mission or DAAD site.
