PR (Permanent Residence)

The status that lets you live and work in a country indefinitely, short of citizenship — a common goal after studying abroad.

Each country has its own PR routes — Canada's Express Entry, Australia's points-based skilled visas, and so on — usually needing work experience, language scores and a points threshold. A study visa is temporary; PR is a separate, later application. Be wary of agents "guaranteeing" PR.
