The US student tracking system, and the one-time fee (US $350 for F-1, verify at ICE) you pay before the visa interview.
SEVIS records every international student in the US. You pay the I-901 fee online using the SEVIS ID on your I-20 and carry the receipt to the interview. Confirm the current fee on the official ICE/SEVP site.
