8,681 travel and immigration agents appear across 25 official district registers. 3,017 hold a licence recorded as currently valid. Of the 5,870 whose register prints a validity date or a cancellation, 47% are not currently valid — 1,928 expired and 822 cancelled. The remaining 2,811 are listed by registers that publish no validity information at all, so nothing can be concluded about them either way. Counted from the government registers themselves, last refreshed 2026-09-15. Every district below links its source document.

Registers differ in what they publish. Some print an expiry date for every entry; others simply list the agents on record without stating whether the licence is current. "% valid" is therefore counted only over the entries whose own register states a position — an expiry date or a cancellation — and reads "not stated" where it publishes neither. A district showing "not stated" is a gap in the source document, not a finding about its agents.
How these numbers are produced
Each district register is downloaded from the government site that publishes it, parsed row by row, and stored with the source URL and the date it was fetched. Nothing is hand-edited. Where a register is a scanned image rather than text, it is read with OCR and flagged as such on the agent page.
Two caveats worth stating plainly. Registers are republished only periodically, so "expired" reflects the validity date printed in the edition counted here and an agent may since have renewed. And a district's totals can only be as complete as the document it publishes — where a register omits a column, that field is simply blank rather than guessed.

Every figure is counted from the district registers published by the District Magistrates under the Punjab Travel Professionals (Regulation) Act, plus the Chandigarh and Panchkula lists. Each district row below links the exact government document it was counted from, and each agent page reproduces its own register row verbatim.
Does an expired licence mean the agent is operating illegally?
No, and it should not be reported as such. Registers are republished only periodically, so an agent may have renewed since the edition we counted. An expired date is a prompt to ask for the current certificate; a cancelled licence is a different and more serious matter, recorded deliberately by the issuing authority.
